ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The promotion and protection of Italian Dop has always been a priority for the Meloni government. To reaffirm this once more, I have sent a letter to the EU Commissioner for Agriculture, Christophe Hansen, requesting the implementation of concrete measures to counter attempts to turn our geographical indications (IIGG) into generic terms, enabling their unrestricted production and marketing abroad, which would seriously harm our sector companies. Furthermore, at Italy’s initiative, the EU Action Plan for IIGG and the ongoing attacks against our protected denominations in third-country markets will be at the forefront of discussions among Agriculture ministers during the upcoming Agrifish Council in Brussels.” This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.
