ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Since 2022, we have observed a continuous increase in arrivals and stays, as well as a historic overtaking of France, with Spain in our sights regarding overnight stays. In fact, last year, based on the preliminary data released by the respective national statistical institutes, we achieved 535.5 million overnight stays, securing the top position in the EU for arrivals, surpassing Spain. The number of stays is crucial because it reflects how long tourists spend with us and how much they spend, also measuring our ability to retain wealth within our regions. In contrast, the data on international arrivals is somewhat abstract: passengers who just have a two-hour transit in Paris, for instance, are counted as arrivals. Our strength lies not in merely passing people through, but in encouraging them to stay. We are committed to this goal, ensuring that those who have visited before return, and we achieve this by enhancing services and quality”.
