Domenico Pellegrino, CEO of the Bluvacanze Group, emphasized the significant impact of inflation on family spending and proposed an action plan to enhance accessibility to vacation experiences. “To make organized tourism more accessible, we can take action on four levels,” he stated: “The first is supply chain efficiency, closely linked to scale and global experience; a player like Bluvacanze, combined with MSC Cruises, can transfer its purchasing power to customers in the form of competitive prices. The second level is personalization; accessibility doesn’t always mean ‘low-cost’, but the smart use of dynamic packaging technologies allows us to create tailored packages, minimizing waste and maximizing perceived value for each customer. The third level involves innovation in offerings and distribution with an omnichannel strategy – physical agencies, digital platforms, 24/7 assistance – which eliminates uncertainty and strengthens trust, focusing on value for money. The fourth level relates to initiatives that support consumers in certified organized tourism channels: considering the mental and physical well-being generated by quality vacations, in collaboration with Aidit Federturismo Confindustria, we have repeatedly proposed tax deductibility models comparable to those of medical expenses.”
On future scenarios and the health of the sector, Pellegrino concluded by highlighting three necessary paths: The first is to invest seriously in digitalization, not just AI, to dominate technology without being dominated by it. The second is to believe in people and training, to develop new digital competencies while maintaining the ability to guide customers in complex choices. The third is to actively collaborate within the supply chain; remaining fragmented, even at an industry association level, will lead to failure; in contrast, models of partnership and value networks can make our companies more competitive on an international scale. Three directives that represent the necessary conditions for evolving organized tourism towards a more mature, competitive, and sustainable model.
