Among the confirmed cases, there have been 47 reported deaths (7 in Piedmont, 5 in Lombardy, 1 in Emilia-Romagna, 16 in Lazio, 15 in Campania, 2 in Calabria, and 1 in Sardinia). The fatality rate, calculated based on the confirmed neuro-invasive cases reported so far, stands at 15.8% (compared to 20% in 2018 and 14% in 2024). During the same period, 9 cases of Usutu virus were reported (2 in Piedmont, 2 in Lombardy, 2 in Veneto, and 3 in Lazio). The number of provinces demonstrating WNV circulation has risen to 72 (from 68) across 17 regions (up from 16): Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia.
