“After investing 7 billion reais to modernize this plant over the last decade, and another 8.5 billion to increase its production capacity and develop new engines and products, today we are in the midst of the largest investment cycle in Betim’s history: 14 billion reais by 2030, the largest share of the 32 billion reais that Stellantis will invest in South America. As you can see, we are here to stay,” he added.
“The birth of this plant was made possible by the vision and enthusiasm of my grandfather, Gianni Agnelli, who saw what many others could not in Minas Gerais – and more broadly in Brazil. Today, 19,000 men and women work here, more than half of Stellantis’ entire workforce in South America. And this family continues to grow. We have just created over 1,200 new jobs for the production of a new Fiat model. Over 400 suppliers operate around this plant, creating one of the strongest industrial hubs on the entire continent. When Betim grows, an entire region grows. Brazil has taught Fiat new ways of thinking,” Elkann concluded.
