In accordance with Law No. 75 of April 21, 2026, the Customs and Monopolies Agency is entitled to participate in the works of the Steering Committee with the presence of the Anti-Fraud Director. At the conclusion of the event, Cons. Sergio Gallo stated, “Being an active part of the Steering Committee is a great source of pride and satisfaction for the Customs Agency, especially for the Anti-Fraud Directorate that I am honored to lead. This working group serves as an important platform for ongoing dialogue among administrations, law enforcement, regulatory bodies, and representatives from the productive sector. I am confident that our joint efforts will identify shared operational priorities and guide supervisory activities towards the issues that most impact business competitiveness and consumer trust.”
The Steering Committee’s tasks include promoting collaboration among regulatory bodies to enhance the effectiveness of inspections aimed at preventing and combating illicit activities, protecting citizens and entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector, preparing the annual Operational Plan for agri-food controls that outlines priority coordinated inspection actions, and promoting extraordinary control campaigns to safeguard Italian products and combat community fraud and unfair practices.
