VALENCIA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – The Effat Congress, the European agri-food union, has elected Fabrizio De Pascale (Uila) as the president of the agricultural sector of the organization. Uila-Uil General Secretary Enrica Mammucari announced this election, emphasizing its significance: “Since Effat’s establishment in 2000,” Mammucari explains, “this is the first time an Italian union representative has held such an important position within the agricultural sector of the organization.
De Pascale’s election arrives at a particularly challenging time for the future of European agriculture, and it also serves as a recognition of the substantial work that Uila has accomplished over the years within Effat, alongside Fai and Flai, especially concerning the social conditionality of the CAP.”
The congress was also attended by Uila National Secretary Gabriele De Gasperis, who, in his speech, emphasized the significant role that the union can and must play in Europe in affirming labor rights in the agricultural sector and in defending and strengthening the principles and contents of social conditionality.
Finally, the congress approved the new composition of Effat’s executive committee, which welcomes Alice Mocci, Uila National Secretary, as a member.
The newly elected president’s first engagement will be the upcoming plenary meeting of the European Social Dialogue Committee for Agriculture (SSDCA) on December 13 in Brussels, where topics on the agenda include the presentation of the new leadership of the European agricultural social forces, Effat and Geopa, represented in the committee.
