“Many Regions and players in the tourism sector are present here. This is also an opportunity to emphasize that the South is experiencing significant growth: we need to strengthen the tourism potential of the Mezzogiorno, to destagionalize, because the beautiful weather is here all year round, and to convey that there are not only cities like Naples, not just Sorrento, Ischia, and Capri, but also so-called lesser-known locations that are not lesser for us, where we need to enhance the tourism offer and create memorable experiences,” stated Santanchè during the inaugural event of Bmt, being held at the Mostra d’Oltremare in Naples until Saturday, March 15. The Mediterranean Tourism Fair is organized by Progecta, a leading company in professional trade fairs.
“Bmt – explained the founder of Progecta, Angioletto De Negri – is crucial because it is organized by those who have been in the tourism business for fifty years. It is the most cherished by travel agencies because it is the most attended and the most comprehensive: from the beginning, we have dealt with both outgoing and incoming sectors. Anyone who comes here finds new opportunities.”
During the Bmt inauguration, moderated by Valentina della Corte, attendees included Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alessandra Priante, ENIT President, Felice Casucci, Tourism Assessor of the Campania Region, Teresa Armato, Assessor for Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Naples, and Gianluca Caramanna, Deputy of FdI and advisor to the Minister of Tourism.
“The government fully supports the Mediterranean Tourism Fair. Bmt – Cirielli emphasized – is an extraordinary event, not only for tourism: it is an international event, involving 50 foreign countries, and it serves as an extraordinary platform for diplomatic relations. For this reason, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has chosen to be present: the Farnesina is focusing on international tourism promotion.”
“Italy – Priante added – needs to recognize that it is the most desired country in the world. What we aim to achieve, especially through fairs like Bmt, is to convert this desire into booking clicks, attracting tourists to visit not only this wonderful region, Campania, and this magnificent city, Naples, but all of the South, particularly, and of course, the entirety of Italy.”
“For Southern Italy – explained Caramanna – tourism is truly an essential driving force for the economy. Here in Campania, our data shows that we need to focus on high-quality, high-spending tourism: on average, tourists coming to Campania spend more than those coming to other regions of Italy. Moreover, the feedback from returning tourists is positive: Naples and all of Campania are excellent tourist destinations.”
