During the opening of the second edition of the “Artificial Intelligence Forward” summit in Tunisia, Tunisian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Ben Ayed, made a statement today.

Ben Ayed emphasized that artificial intelligence is a global transformative force and a historic opportunity to support development, enhance services, and foster innovation, while also posing the risk of widening disparities between technology-producing countries and developing nations.

Among Tunisia’s stated priorities are the strengthening of digital infrastructures, the development of skills, and the transfer of technologies and knowledge. The State Secretary also highlighted the necessity for international governance of artificial intelligence, which should be based on a multi-lateral and inclusive framework.
