ROMA (ITALPRESS/TRAME&TECH) – Meta AI, the intelligent assistant created by Meta, is now available on Instagram and Facebook, following its launch on WhatsApp. The interaction takes place solely through direct messages (DMs) on Instagram and via Messenger on Facebook. This artificial intelligence allows users to conduct searches, translations, and even create checklists, providing a conversational experience akin to a search engine.
To utilize Meta on Instagram, users need to access the DM section by tapping the airplane icon located at the top right. In the search bar, the option “Search or ask Meta AI” will appear, allowing users to start a conversation simply by typing a question. After the initial use, the chatbot will be visible in the chat list, enabling quick access to its features.
On Facebook, the AI can be accessed through the Messenger app. To activate it, users must tap the search bar and select Meta AI, which provides predefined suggestions to facilitate interaction. Responses are provided in real-time, and users can reply or like received messages. However, Meta AI does not generate images, focusing instead on text interactions.
Additionally, the chatbot is accessible only via mobile apps, while web browsers allow viewing of the chat but do not offer interaction. Forwarding messages from other conversations to Meta AI is not permitted. Meta claims that the chatbot does not access private conversations, but interactions with the AI are stored and may be utilized for system improvement. Public posts shared by users can also be used to train the artificial intelligence.
Currently, it is not possible to disable Meta AI on either Facebook or Instagram, similar to the situation on WhatsApp. However, users can delete the chat; they are unable to remove content already used by the AI for its learning purposes. To request complete data deletion, individuals must fill out a specific form.
